The Cliff
Boyce, Virginia
"The Cliff" residence and garden proper sit four hundred and twenty five feet above the Shenandoah River and offer magnificent views up and down the river corridor and to the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond. The design began with a rigorous evaluation of existing vegetation and established gardens and evolved into the creation of new riverside lawns and primary terrace with water feature, riverside perennial border and "cliff" walk. In addition, the plan provides a pool house, tennis pavilion and complete restructuring of the arrival court and entry sequence. This project won a Potomac Chapter American Society of Landscape Architecture award in 2005.
